Meet at the Glacier Public Service Center, 10091 Mt. Baker Highway, Glacier, WA 98244. Groups will leave from there to the snowshoe walk locations along the Hannegan Pass Road, Heather Meadows or another setting in the Mt. Baker Highway area determined by snow levels and weather. The snowshoe walks will last 2 to 3 hours, not including driving to the walk location from Glacier. Snowshoes and poles are provided. Reservations are required.

Ranger Guided Snowshoe Walk. Learn snowshoe and winter safety basics while gaining knowledge about winter ecology, recreation opportunities, and the cultural history of the North Fork Nooksack drainage.

Maximum group size: 15
Minimum age for youth: 12 years
Suggested donation: $25 for adults and $15 for youth 12-17.

What you'll need to bring:

  • Gear and clothing: Waterproof pants and jacket (breathable is preferred), hat, goggles or sunglasses (goggles recommended when it is snowing) and gloves. Clothing layers beginning with a base layer made of silk, wool, or a synthetic fabric (no cotton!). A backpack for carrying an extra layer of cloths, water, food, etc.
  • Water: More than you'd think, snowshoeing makes you thirsty! Something warm in a thermos is nice too.
  • Footwear: Sturdy waterproof boots with ankle support.
  • Lunch/Snacks: High energy snacks, we'll break for lunch.
  • Optional: Camera, GPS, map, binoculars, poles, gaiters, extra shoes and socks and dry clothes to change into for the ride home.
