Product Details

The Nez Perce (Nee-Me-Poo) National Historic Trail, established in 1986, commemorates the forced journey of the Nez Perce Indians as they tried to outrun the U.S. Army in 1877. Five bands of Nez Perce had reluctantly agreed to leave their homelands and had begun moving into the new, smaller reservation when violence broke out and war began. The route of the Nez Perce dictated by terrain and strategy, measured close to 1300 miles. Throughout the journey, a warrior force never exceeding 250 men fought some 20 engagements with their pursuers who included about 2000 soldiers supported by civilian volunteers.

Commemorate the history of the Nez Perce National Historic Trail with this one-of-a-kind lapel pin. Your purchase supports educational programs in our public lands!
