At home in waters all around the globe, Humpbacks are especially fond of our coast. After migrating north every winter from Mexico and Hawaii, Humpbacks arrive in our area for summer fun and feeding. Our long summer days are perfect for singing, breaching, and slapping the water with their flippers and tails. Summer may also be the only time of year they eat, though they can eat up to 1.5 tons of food per day. The trouble is, they can become entangled in long lines of lost fishing gear and either strangle or exhaust themselves to death trying to get free.
