The Nez Perce Pendleton Blanket commemorates the 50th Anniversary of Nez Perce National Historical Park. Inspired by Native American weaving, the Nez Perce 50th Anniversary Blanket features rich colors, beautiful patterns, and the legendary high quality of Pendleton. Available in limited quantity, this one-of-a-kind blanket designed by Nez Perce artist Kevin Peters will make a beautiful statement piece for any home.

Pendleton Woolen Mills has long produced blankets of fine quality, where a study of the color and design preferences of Native Americans resulted in vivid colors and intricate patterns. The role of blankets is woven deep in the history of Native Americans. For centuries, blankets have been used for warmth and comfort, as a medium of exchange, for artistic expression and as an important part of ceremonies and tribal councils.

Nez Perce NHP Blanket

On May 15, 2015 Nez Perce National Historical Park celebrates its 50th anniversary. The Park encompasses 38 separate locations spread out over five states. Much of the history of the European colonization of North America and the U.S. Government's policies that defined the treatment of American Indians is told through the Nez Perce experience. Nez Perce National Historical Park interprets history from the perspective of the Nez Perce people, from the time before colonization to present day.

About the Artist:
Kevin Peters grew up in Lewiston, Idaho, connected to the Nez Perce tribe close by. He pursued the arts in high school, studying drawing, painting and casting in bronze. He also learned traditional beading techniques from his aunt. Kevin attended the American Indian Art Institute in Santa Fe, NM graduating in 1977 with an Associates in Fine Arts. He went back to AIAI in 1987 and 1988 and earned another Associates degree in Museum Studies. Today, he works as a Park Ranger at Nez Perce National Historical Park.

Features: Made in the Pacific Northwest. 82% wool, 18% cotton. 64 x 84 in. Dry clean.
