KLONDIKE GOLD RUSH N.H.P.
The
Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park (Seattle Unit) commemorates the crucial role Seattle played during the late 1890s Alaska-Yukon Gold Rush. Seattle became the "Gateway to the Gold Fields" and the main outfitting port for thousands of men and women looking to strike it rich in the Klondike. The Klondike Gold Rush was instrumental in raising awareness of the possibilities for developing mining, timber, and other natural resources in Alaska and the Canadian Yukon. It was also a catalyst to the rapid development of Seattle and the Pacific Northwest in the early 1900s.
